Terminology Observation
I was on wikipedia and ran across this quote:
"This article contains weasel words: vague phrasing that often accompanies biased or unverifiable information. Such statements should be clarified or removed. (December 2010)"
I have to wonder about it! I mean is it a comment from a reader not agreeing with the rabbit info provided or is it from wikipedia? I've never seen it before!
So do we have a new term, weasel words? I find it a tad offensive or repulsive. So now are bloggers a bunch of weasel worders?
I don't find wikipedia to be a professional and highly accurate site. No offense, and I do use it. But, I consider the info to be a start for researching and feel I'm then responsible to verify, clarify, or disregard if I can't support it with professional info. In a way, it's rather like reading a blog. It's the author's opinion or writing.
That being, I sure don't consider myself as weasely! I always thought to be a weasel (not the 4 legged variety) was quite negative and suggests being sneaky and conniving! That rabbit article was interesting and informative, an opinion and experience. It was NOT a negative article. I didn't find the words to be sneaky or conniving or anything resembling a weasel!
Interesting, for sure! What do you think?

Vintage Goat Carriages Photo
I received this photo thru a graphic/photo share group on yahoo and WOW, was I excited to see this! It was definitely a "sit up and take notice" event! (click on it for the larger copy to show)
Photo Caption: "The picture above was taken in 1904, and shows children in Goat Carriages in Central Park, in New York City."
I immediately knew I'd need to make sure Sue Weaver, published author, would also be estatic to receive a copy. I also know she'll immediately wonder where it came from! I'm with her!
Has anyone ever seen this before? It seems it might be more traceable with the date taken and being in Central Park, NYC. But then again maybe that was just a notation on the back and we can't find a source.
Was it a goat show or some other type show? Was it a "Sunday get-together" situation? The kids are all finely dressed and everything looks to have been cleaned, groomed and done up for this get-together.
In spite of all that, I LOVE this photo. Isn't it neat? It just makes me want to know all about it and more about working goats! Inquiring minds want to know!

US Government
This isn't a political blog and I do hate getting into politics on various groups, but I have to share this insightful quote. It's not based on political affiliations, but rather the government's getting lost on the wrong path the last several presidential cycles. It's not based on current presidential status, but more to the WHOLE government with Congress being as integral a part as any current or past president.
This gave me a moment to ponder the whole fiasco of the last 10-15 years and thought you might find it worthy of thought too.
"The US no longer does decisions. It can neither stop the drug traffic nor legalize it. It can neither win wars nor abandon them, neither make money nor stop spending it, neither stop immigration nor assimilate the immigrants. Washington can beat its thumb with a hammer, yes, and notice that it hurts, but it can't stop beating its thumb. That would take a decision, and Washington doesn't do decisions." - Fred Reed
Interesting, right? Imagine if we didn't have political parties, but rather individuals who are there to serve without being hand-tied to a party!

A Little Soomething to Ponder
This year we will experience 4 unusual dates:
1/1/11
1/11/11
11/1/11
11/11/11
Post edited to add:
Well, I fell for this one! It works for me so I didn't try other ages! I'll leave it here so you can see what it was and you can try it and see if it works for you too. How can I skip my birthday this year? I can't believe how old I'll be in a couple weeks. Bahhhh hummmbug!
Figure this out:
Take the last two digits of the year you were born PLUS the age you will be this year and add them together.
They will equal 111.
For children turning eleven and under the total will equal 11.

Welcome & Introduction to Ponder This
Do you like to read things that you can ponder on and possibly try out in a fashion that fits your style or needs? Do you like to read short writings that make you think, "So that’s why…." Or maybe "Well, I’ll be!" or such? Do you occasionally ponder the various happenings in life and always look for the answers to "Why?" "Where?" "Who?" or "How?" Then you have discovered the "right place" to visit!
Welcome to my new blog! I hope you will enjoy some posts that you glean info you can ponder on or use. My topic range (at least in the early days here) will vary significantly as I’d like to write about every day things such as home, health, life, family, cooking info and maybe an occasional recipe, tips/ideas, educational items, informative info, etc. I’ll probably even throw in some humor or thought provoking quotes, etc. (What you won’t find here are the extremely controversial topics with a lot of politics, no attacks on people, "filth" and such so kids are welcome!)
I hope coming to see what is up in this tiny corner of the net will afford you time to pull up to your computer with a relaxing cup of coffee, tea, etc. and relax a few minutes!
I hope you’ll find this interesting and will bookmark my blog! I also hope you will take a moment at times to post a comment, even so small as to say "thumbs up" or thanks! Feel free to click the ads also as I’m hoping this endeavor will help me out a bit as I’m out of work with a disability. My goal is to have an activity to keep from being stir-crazy. I also have lived with the personal goal of learning something new every day and I enjoy reading so this seems to be way to be creative and active at home.
I also welcome ideas you’d like to see posted and maybe some things you wish you had time to google and research for a bit of info on. All topics will have to be rated G or possibly PG 13 of course as this will be a "clean" place to visit!
Thanks for stopping in!
