Inspiration! Cupcakes at that!

It wouldn't be nice of me to send the photo as it's just not mine to share. So I'm including the link because you really DO want to see these cupcakes! The photo is amazing and so is the idea! They used chocolate ganache and fondant on the cupcakes. I found the photo on pinterest and that photo was easier to see than the full sized one here, but even so, AMAZING and awesome for ideas for the future! You could make the fondant flowers on a cake too. And, WE can all make them. Cut a circle from fondant, make cuts for the petals and curl them up. Add a dot of ganache to glue 2 layers together and a dot for the flower center. You can eat your art work too!

And yes, sometimes I am rather easily entertained! I check out Pinterest while eating supper. Off to pin the pic in my cakes and cupcakes file on Pinterest!

Homestead Kitchen - A New Blog

I had been thinking of adding food and recipes here, but what I do here just doesn't really blend well with food. Also, I'm not sure how well some folks would appreciate the barn and kitchen all on one blog. I was afraid it would be like finding a cat hair in your food or cooking with dirty hands! So, I started another blog for food and recipes. I like my food clean and healthy too, after all!

If you'd like to visit, it's Homestead Kitchen at:
http://homesteadkitchen.blogspot.com/ It wasn't easy coming up with a name that wasn't in use!

Feel free to leave comments, of course!

Now to find the right banner shaped photo for the logo. I wish the one I posted here would fit! I think I might need to take a couple food pics and shrink them and "tape" them together to make one! I'm also thinking when I get home from the farmer's market this week I should have enough of a variety to spread it out and take a pic for fresh foods that I could use. I'll find something..... ;)

A Decadent Treat

I found a decadent, yummy treat! This and a spoon will do it!

I discovered this peanut butter and chocolate combo last Fall. I LOVE it - too much! I can eat it from the jar or as a pb w/banana sandwich. It's also good with apple slices. My only problem is the sugars. It does have some "evaporated cane juice". It does say "No high fructose corn syrup".

If you ever get the chance and love chocolate and peanut butter, try some "Dark Chocolate Dreams" from Peanut Butter & Co. Doesn't this look good?

Have you tried it before? There is also a white chocolate but I like the dark best. Too bad I have to limit myself to the occassional serving of 2 Tbsp!

Good Sunday Morning!

Good morning! I think we're going to get some rain today. I may get some time indoors to sit here at the computer more!

In the meantime, I'm drinking the last bit of coffee. Then I'm hitting the ice tea. There is the saying, "Pick your poison!". Coffee first thing in the morning for me won't last much longer. During the winter I drink hot beverages or plain water all day. I'm about to the point that I return to my preferred morning drink - fresh goat milk! Sometimes it's with SF (sugar free) chocolate syrup and sometimes plain. Then it's ice tea or water. I use to enjoy lemon and sugar or sugar in my tea but now it's plain. No more sugar for me. There's plenty of milk sugars in that goat milk though! What's your poison? Is it seasonal or year-around?

The 3 bucklings are leaving today. They are on their way to come get them. So I'm off, back to the barn to give them a bottle and try to take a couple pics. I hear I'm about to help put ear tags in them! Scrapie tags are another thing coming at me that I need to learn. I have a tattoo kit and need to learn that too. One never gets too old to learn and one never quits learning!

After that, I need to get the turkey eggs moved to the other incubator and the main one put on lock down for the hatch! The date just "hit me" and I should have done that yesterday!

Have a great day and I hope it makes your weekend to have been a good one!

Where's the Bread?

I just bought a few cook books at Good Will and ended up with a surprise. They are 4/$1 so I shouldn't complain, right? I was disappointed though as one of the tw0 I was most interested in was a bummer even though it was a compilation of TNT recipes.

It's the one with the beautiful pie on it!

I didn't notice it when flipping through it, and yet, would probably still have bought it at that price. Upon sitting down at home to enjoy it, I find no index. THAT is odd. Then the first section was all types of recipes mixed together without a "leader" page. But! Then when looking after the appetizer section, for the bread section, low and behold, NO BREAD RECIPES! Someone had torn the whole section out! Other pages had been torn out too, but what a bummer to have a whole section removed.

Now I know why the plastic "binder" was a tad large for the book! What a bummer though because I so was looking forward to the quick breads and that whole bread chapter!

On the bright side, there are still a LOT of TNT recipes in it and, like I said, I'd have still bought it. Twenty-five cents is pretty cheap for "half" a cook book! Oh, "TNT" stands for "Tried N True" or "Tried N Trusted".

Now, I am left wondering what else was missing on all the other absent pages! Maybe some day I'll see another copy of it..... After all, I do have a thing for cook books!
