Fall & Daylight Savings Time Countdowns

I'm wondering if countdown banners work to add the html to a blog so here's my test.....

I can't believe Fall is sooooo close! I'm not overly thrilled with this situation! I'm one to want to hang on to good weather and especially weather I enjoy outdoors.

At least with DST I don't have the same feeling of cringing as when looking at Fall and Winter arriving. I don't enjoy this Fall time change but it's not dreaded as much as Winter's arrival.

How does my garden grow?

Right now, it's still "hibernating" und snow. But, I'm making a list with a few sublists. I've got herbs, veggies, flowers, misc. all started with a growing number of things I want to have growing/coming along.

I've got a spot for making a "pumpkin patch" this year. It will be pumpkins and a couple winter squashes.

I had started to enlarge one raised bed and will finish that off as soon as I can as I'd like to be planting in the expanded area and not just the original. I have room to start 2 new raised beds that are badly needed.

Some of the Things I Enjoy!

* The hummingbird feeder.
* The cats lazing around outside and their hunting prowess.
* The cats showing up at milking time for their milk.
* The bok bok bok song of a hen who has laid an egg and the supporting chorus. Music is everything!
* The young kids enjoying the sunshine and life boing boinging around the yard with all their exhuberance.
* A tired kid crawling into my lap to be loved on and to take a nap.
* The welcome song of the critters when I'm arriving at the barn to feed and milk. Not only are they hungry, but the goats make it clear that my company is important and they want some attention. They get it too! How could one resist?
* The nickers of the 2 mares who are happy to see me when I step out the door or call them.
* The peace and beauty of 2 beautiful horses grazing in the pasture or standing at the fence to greet me.
* The does who are loose in the yard and see me step out the door. They quickly head to the house to meet me and then frolic around me. They also bound around back and forth, between the barn and me to usher me to their home.
* The company and attention my dogs provide.
* The young chicks who hatch and are such miracles! They grow so fast. It's fun to watch their new feathers grow and to see what they are developing into.
* My computer and all the neat people who I get to share and visit with.

Everyone should be bred and ALL by Kernals. I was really pleased with his offspring last year and expect to be more so this year! He's a very nice buck and has a very sweet and friendly disposition. Unfortunately, with life as it was last Fall, I mistakenly waited till November to start breeding and should have started in October. That being, the does are all due starting in April. The 2013 kids will be Nigoras (for fleece), Mini Alpines, Mini LaManchas and Nigeran Dwarfs.

I HIGHLY recommend the Irish Whisper Farm goats. My ND's and LaManchas are all from there or their parents are. The ND's are the Sugar Creek breedings and both the Sugar Creek and Irish Whisper are bred for major milk production and all the correct attributes you could wish for. Both breeders are very knowledgeable as to genetics and breeding. Both LaMancha does are from Irish Whisper Farm and again, breed to milk and for all the correct attributes one could wish for. Both farms are in Michigan.

2013 Goals & Sales

Always under construction as time goes on, but here's a start!

* Get my website updated and use it again.

* Get GOOD pics of the goats so the core herd has a herd page and pages for does, bucks, kids, photo album.

* Get GOOD pics of the turkeys for a web page.

* Get GOOD pics of the chickens and a page for the flock.

* Get GOOD pics of the geese and a page for them.

FOR SALE:

Turkeys (Royal Palms): Currently for sale are 2 young toms and several turkey hens. These can be grouped as a pair or trio. I have 8 I would like to sell so my core herd doesn't get too large and to avoid in-breeding. 2/21/2013

2013 Goat kids will all be for sale and I'd like to sell Maddy, Mini Alpine, and Mosey, ND. They were sold last Fall but the new owner's dogs didn't take kindly to them so they were returned to avoid them being injured or killed. They will be first fresheners this year and both are bred to Kernals, ND buck. 2/21/2013
